Conference Venue
All conference sessions will be taking place in Orchard Commons room 3018. The Orchard Commons building is at 6363 Agronomy Road and can be found using map applications such as Google maps, it may also show up as the “Orchard Commons Student Residence”. There are a number of entrances, but the entrance off Agronomy Road is the closes to the classrooms. Once inside, head to the 3rd floor and room 3018. All classrooms are along the same hallway, and room 3018 will be in the southwest corner of the building.
The conference banquet will be taking place at the Ideas Lounge at 6331 Crescent Road, which may also show up as “Ideas Lunch & Wine Bar” in a search. It will be in the bottom floor of the Leon and Thea Koerner University Centre. Once inside there should be signs to the Ideas Lounge, or you can ask any staff member at Sage catering which is on the upper floor for guidance.
If there is any trouble in finding any of the conference venues, please call or text Jonathan Verrett at 604-312-4762. A wayfinding map specific for UBC Vancouver can be accessed online, conference venues on this map are listed as Orchard Commons and University Centre.
Parking is available near each of these venues if required, more details on this can be found in the transportation section below.
Transportation
Getting to Vancouver
Vancouver is well-connected for air, train, bus, and car travel.
Translink is the public transit provider for Vancouver and the surrounding region. It provides transit to UBC from a number of surrounding areas including from the airport by skytrain (rapid transit) followed by bus connection.

Getting around campus
UBC has a large campus with limited vehicle access. It has wide, flat pedestrian malls, and most people walk between sites on campus (expect 10-15 minute walks). There is a public transit mini-bus that does travel between the more far-flung areas, and a campus bike-share program.
If you have mobility limitations, we recommend a car to travel to campus locations as there will be parking nearby. Parking permits can be obtained from parking machines onsite.
The North Parkade is closest to Walter Gage Residence, the B4 lot is closest to the conference venue (Orchard Commons) and the Rose Garden Parkade is closest to the banquet venue. Daily rates are $20 CAD per day (hourly rates $4 CAD/hour) in these parkades. Unfortunately permits do not transfer between parkades. See locations here (link).
You can pre-pay online for parking (including for future dates) using the HONK Mobile application (North Parkade (link), B4 surface lot (link), Rose Garden Parkade (link)).
There is also an Accessibility Shuttle, however, the service runs Monday to Friday 9 am – 4:30 pm and some conference programming will fall outside of this time. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to Jonathan Verrett (jonathan.verrett@ubc.ca) and we can discuss accessibility options.

Wifi & Internet
The eduroam network is available to those travelling from other institutions. UBC’s IT department has indicated that it is best to configure eduroam access to your device with the assistance of your own institutional IT support before travelling to UBC.
If you do not have access to eduroam, UBC also has a visitor wifi network which can be used without a login, more details on accessing UBCvisitor wifi can be found here.
Food and Dining
